Seller Review - Fangirly Storm!

I have been waiting what seems like an eternity to do this blog post!! I love hair bows and a few weeks ago I was on Etsy (<3) scouting out some new bows for the upcoming Hyper Japan event in London at the end of July. There are many great items on Etsy but what I found was Super Kawaii and Super Awesome! I came across a seller called Fangirly Storm and I fell in love!

This has to be the best seller of bows I have ever come across and I just had to buy some (lots) ^^. The seller was super friendly and kept in contact regarding shipping and let me know when the items had been sent, including tracking numbers. So when I got my email to say they were on the way I couldn't help but check the post every day!!!

Fangirly Storm had loads of super kawaii items, including earrings and necklaces, but I hit up the bows as I just couldn't chance them selling out or disappearing!! So....without delaying any further, this is what I got!!

First, here are the Pokemon bows I ordered!!

Here is a Squirtle bow which has his face on one side of the bow and his shell on the other!

Here is a Bulbasaur bow which is designed like the Squirtle bow above, his face is on one side and his back is on the other. It's a really clever way of showing the whole Pokemon on the bow and I think is an awesome statement!

This bow shows the evolution of the icon that is Pikachu! You can't beat a Pikachu bow and this one shows all the stages of his life! An awesome touch is the illustration on the side of the bow envelope (next to the bow).

This is a super kawaii bow that is black with white stars all over and in the top right you can see two Eevee evolutions, Umbreon and Espeon.
The last pack of Pokemon bows I picked was a two pack!

The bow on the left is decorated with pixelated Pokeballs which I love, it came in a two pack with the bow on the right which is decorated with all of the evolutions of Eevee! As it has quite a few colours on I could wear this in a colourful Decora look or tie it in to a single coloured outfit making this the centre piece!

The next selection of bows that I bought are character bows which are super Kawaii and will fit into lots of different outfits!!

Here is an Animal Crossing bow, decorated with Animal Crossing icons like the leaf and fruits that you can collect in the game! It come in a Tom Nook decorated envelope which is super Kawaii and will look adorable on display!

This bow is pink and decorated with Moogles which is a small character from the Final Fantasy game franchise. Again, it came in a super Kawaii envelope which is just as Kawaii as the bow!!

This a a Gloomy Bear bow which shows various sized Gloomys on a white bow.

Now you have to recognise this one! It's a Totoro bow!! Similar to the Gloomy Bear bow, Totoro is displayed on a white bow and again, comes in a super Kawaii envelope! I can't wait to wear this bow whilst wearing my large Totoro bag during the summer months!

This is a super Kawaii Kero-Chan bow with Kero-Chan and fruit/cake decorations! This is a gorgeous bow and can't wait to wear it. This one may have to come to Hyper Japan with me!

This is a Korilakkuma bow, it has mini Korilakkumas on it with mini pink hearts that match the pink ribbon tied round the centre.

This is SUPER KAWAII!! It is of course a Nyan cat bow!! Now this I will have to wear with my Nyan cat t-shirt for mega Kawaiiness!! And I love the envelope it came in, it all added to the quality of the products inside!

Last but certainly not least, here are the Sailor Moon bows I picked!

This is a beautiful black bow with small white stars and Sailor Moon sitting on the moon in the top right corner of the bow! This is adorable and definitely a must if you are a Sailor Moon fan!

This is a Luna and Artemis hair bow from Sailor Moon! This is again, Super Kawaii and will look awesome in any outfit!

Well that is everything I got! I can't praise this seller ENOUGH!! I have bought a LOT of items from DIY sellers online but this may just be the BEST. All the fabric is hand made by the seller, they come sized 3.5-4 inches wide, on a choice of being attached to an alligator clip or a bow tie with an attached bar pin. There is a 4-6 week waiting period, but to be honest, it is more than worth the wait! I am super happy with my bows, they are of an incredible quality, all coming in a special handmade envelope which keeps them safe and are kawaii enough to keep them on display. The items came very well packaged in bubblewrap and the shipping (as it's a US based seller) was more than fair!

There are loads more items available on their Etsy store, which I have to admit, I may even have to buy myself! ^^

I can confirm that this review is completely independent and all items shown were purchased without the seller knowing I was going to blog about them!

Catch you later Kawaiisters!! ^^

It's almost Friday, PON PON PON!!!

So it's Thursday which means tomorrow is FRIDAY!! It's been a very long week and the weather has been grim! So to give us all a shot of Kawaii here is Kyary Pamyu Pamyu singing Pon, Pon, Pon!

I love the video for this as it was art directed by my all time favourite designer, Masuda Sebastian of 6%DokiDoki!! And if you read my blog regularly you will have seen how much I love his work and his shop!

Did any of you lucky Kawaiisters get to see Kyary Pamyu Pamyu recently on her tour? <3

Mr Takeover - Kawaii Gaming

Hello Kawaiisters!

We love kawaii and we love gaming, so it's no surprise that we have tried to make sure our 3DSs are kawaii (and cool!). Here are my (blue one) and Pinkuiro Pixie's (white) 3DS XLs.  Mine is the Fire Emblem edition and features a cool crest from that game.  Pinkuiro Pixie's is the Animal Crossing New Leaf version and is covered in kawaii little icons from the game such as apples and the Nook leaf.

Of course, we needed a way of keeping these safe while travelling (and using the StreetPass feature ^^) so when we last went to Tokyo we were determined to find some kawaii cases.

Pinkuiro Pixie found this kawaii case in Shinjuku.  It features Gachapin, a popular TV character on Fuji TV, and is a hard case for added protection - although it has a soft feel coating.  It also has a carabiner attached which is useful for attaching all sorts of kawaii accessories...

At the same store, I found a soft case featuring all sorts of creatures from the Dragon Quest game series, including the famous Slime which is massively popular in Japan.

This case fits our two chargers in perfectly, so we decided to use it for those... the search continued for a case for my 3DS!

When we visited the Pokemon Centre in Minato I found the perfect case for me...

It's an awesome Eevee themed hard case! Featuring all the different Eevee evolutions (except Sylveon, the newest as of X and Y) it is colourful, but still cool for a guy like me to carry around ^^

Despite the cases being really cool and kawaii, we couldn't leave it at that - we had to add a few more touches to make them our own!

Pinkurio Pixie chose to add charms featuring some of her favourite Pokemon - Sylveon (left), Pancham (middle) and Chespin (top).  She also added Cure Lovely from the series HappinessCharge PreCure! - Pinkurio Pixie loves magical girls! ^^

I chose a classic Pikachu (top) and two of my favourite Pokemon - Axew (bottom left) and Meowth (centre).  Meowth's strap also features a lucky coin - not sure it has helped me in any games yet though!  I also got a screen cleaner charm in a Gacha - I think it is from a Japanese puzzle game, but I'm not really sure ^^;

I'm sure we'll both add more charms to our cases soon! ^^

Shoes! Shoes! Shoes! ^^

Regardless of what your style is, your look won't be complete without the right shoes! I find here in the UK that many people put so much effort into a look and then when you look down, they forgot all about their shoes! This cannot be said for Tokyo, when you stroll down the Takeshita Dori everyone you come into contact with has completely thought out their outfit, from the top of their head to the soles of their feet! I am a huge lover of shoes, all types of shoes too. From trainers to skate shoes, to platforms and flats; shoes can really pull your outfit off so I thought today I would show you some of mine.

First I will show you some of the shoes I wear for work. I work in an ordinary office and therefore it can be hard to show off your style, especially when it's not part of the mainstream fashions. I generally wear flat shoes to work as they are more comfortable getting to and from work. But flats don't mean boring! A pair of shoes I picked up last year helps show off my Kawaii side:

This is a pair of Patent black Dr Marten Mary-Janes. They come with detachable bows which you can slide on and off the strap. This pair shows some white bows with black polka dots and are absolutely adorable! They are very comfortable and help keep me kawaii while at work.

This is a side pic of the shoes so you can see the strap. The best thing about these shoes is they came with two sets of bows!!

If you don't want to stand out as much at work then you can opt to wear the all black bows which are very easy to change. The bows come with an elastic band at the back which you just slip onto the strap! Here is a side pic of the black bows:

You could, if you really wanted to wear one of each bow! They are quite large and make quite a statement. You could probably use them on other strapped shoes as well!

Another pair of shoes I have worn to work are these Lolita strappy shoes.

I really adore Lolita fashion despite being more of a Decora girl and these shoes were perfect for work. I bought them from an online store called Minky Shop. They are an online fashion retailer selling Japanese fashion brands such as Angelic Pretty. I love the height these shoes give you along with comfort which you cannot always get with wearing standard stiletto's. And being 5ft 4in, they made me feel like a giant!

The soles are 2.5 inches high at the front and 4 inches at the back and they are secured via clip on straps. Despite the height they are very easy to walk in and got a lot of comments from people I knew.

The shoes I wear most to work are platforms from a brand called Swear. They are an old brand that were very popular on the alternative scene around 10 years ago. I could not find a website for them anymore but you can get second hand pairs on places like eBay. I found this pair in a charity shop, they had been worn once!

Well their loss was my gain and I got these for £10!! They are extremely comfortable and remind me so much of the shoes you see many Japanese girls wearing around Harajuku. They may not be as high as some of the ones I have seen, but for the fashions in the UK they are quite tall!

They measure 2.25 inches at the back and 2 inches at the front. They fit so well I have even ran for the bus in these!!

So, that's my work shoes! Now onto the fun part, my play shoes! Now like I said I am more of a Decora style and therefore like lots of colours and in order to wear all my different outfits I need a range of coloured shoes. I must stress this is just a few of my collection that I have built up over a long time (around 10 years!) I'm lucky enough to also fit into kids sizes so that opens the options out for more Kawaii shoes.

So firstly here are some Skater trainers that I own. Skater trainers come in many colours nowadays and are very comfortable when going on long walks, like strolling round Harajuku all day!

These are DC branded skater shoes and as you can see are primarily white with pink. I had to buy these once I saw the Sakura patter down the side, but the best is at the rear of the shoe!

The shoe has an awesome Anime style woman on the back with her pink hair flowing towards the front of the show and Sakura Blossoms in her hair. I bought these last summer and haven't worn them yet but think I will be taking them on my holiday this year!

Converse/canvas shoes are another range that come in a wide range of colours and patterns. This is a pair I picked up late last summer. They are Thundercat pumps that are mainly orange with details of grey and yellow. I was born in the 80's so the Thundercats was a cartoon I watched as a kid and these brought back memories when I spotted them! They give my another option during the summer when wearing citrusy colours.

This is another pair of Converse. They are multi coloured leopard print baseball boots. These were hiding in a shop called Footasylum. This is a quirky fashion store but well worth the scout when your out looking for something a little off the wall/different.  The colours are very bright and very fashionable in Harajuku at the moment. When we were there in February we saw lots of people wearing neon colours and animal print so these fit right in at the moment!

Now, my Mr bought me these after we got back from Tokyo as I had picked up a fascination with Little Twin Stars while we were there!

This is a pair of high topped trainers in baby pink and baby blue. At the top of the tongue you can see Kiki and Lala facing each other. These have to be THE most Kawaii and adorable shoes I have ever owned!! I don't know whether I should wear them or put them on display in my living room as I love them so much!

Here is a pic from the side so you can see the distribution of colours over the whole shoe. The trainers also came with the option of lacing them up with ribbon laces which I have yet to experiment with, when I do ill Tweet a pic!

For those into darker Kawaii here is an awesome pair of Emily the Strange boots I have that go awesome with a nice denim or black skirt.

These Emily the Strange boots go quite high up my calf and can be laced up as far or as low as you like. The main part of the boot shows one of Emily's cats waiting to catch a spider. These are very high quality and have lasted me years! They are highly detailed, as with all of her brand's items which you can see from the detail along the edge of the sole in the pic below:

So, that's my lot for today. Which were your favourites from the pics above? What styles of shoe do you like to wear most?

Keeping Cool and Kawaii!

A few weeks ago I blogged about the weather getting nicer and the summer coming. Well since that post the weather has been very changeable, with one day being lovely and warm and the next being rainy all day and me needing to put the heating on!

The weather is due to be nice over the weekend with warm, sunnier weather, so to get us all back in the Summer mood I thought I would do another summer post! ^^ When we visited Tokyo a few years ago we managed to catch the tail end of a VERY hot summer, so hot that our Japanese friend called it 'the bloody summer'. When we asked her why it was called that, she laughed and said 'because it was so bloody hot!'.

I was glad it was quite hot, not because I enjoy the heat but because I found out why I find so many Kawaii face cloths on sale! One way the Japanese keep cool on the go is to keep a damp face cloth on them so that they can freshen up while they are out and about. The face cloths are just another accessory with many being on sale for all sorts of styles. I obviously was drawn to the Kawaii ones!

The facecloth on the left is one I picked up in February, it's one that came part of the Minnie Mouse Sweets range I blogged about previously. The one on the right is one I bought from the Hello Kitty Gift Gate in Shinjuku. It is one that represents my birth day and horoscope, and has a lovely Hello Kitty design of her riding a broom to represent Halloween!

Again, the one on the left came as part of the Minnie Mouse Sweet range. The one on the right is one I picked up in Puroland and it displays a scene of Hello Kitty in Odaiba! I loved Odaiba, It shows the famous Ferris Wheel which you can spot while travelling there!

Fans are another way to keep cool in the summer and you can find all sorts of fans on sale. Below is a fan I was bought from the UK by a member of my family. It's of Hello Kitty riding an aeroplane and the propellers are the fan! This is super Kawaii!

The alternative fan I have is the more traditional fan you can see below. This is one I picked up in Harajuku on my first visit. It displays one of my favourite characters, Kuromi! She's wearing a crown and accompanied by jewels all over the design. I love using this fan, it's gotten lots of compliments and fits easily in my bag for quick access!

So, how do you keep cool in the summer? Do you prefer a fan or face cloth? or do you use both?!

Skelanimals are an awesome range if you like to add a little edge to your Kawaii outfit. Taken from their website they are:

"Skelanimals are adorable little animals who have met an untimely end-mostly due to their own reckless and ill-advised behavior. They are looking for a home with that special someone to care for and love them, but not just anyone. They like people who have a warm heart, after all they’re just bones. They need you to keep them warm and cozy. Snuggling is their favorite thing to do, especially when you watch a scary movie."

I have built a small collection of Skelanimal accessories, including hair slides and love wearing them! The slides below show a small amount of the characters that you can find in the Skelanimal range. The penguin is Pen, the dog is Dax, the cat is Kit, the monkey is Marcy and the Panda is ChungKee!! I love them all!!

This is only a few of the characters available, a full list can be found on the Meet Us page on their site.

You can get a whole range of items from the Skelanimals range including T-shirts, plushes, bags, key chains, footwear and have even done a collaboration with DC! Unfortunately I have only ever found one store selling this range in Birmingham which is Beadesaurus. I have bought all of my accessory collection from there including a few necklaces!

This is Kit the cat on a necklace. It's an awesome piece and really good quality. They are really built to last! This pendant is on a chunky silver chain and has two pink hearts and a mini skull on the chain next to the pendant. The end of the necklace where you fasten it also has a lovely detail with a heart of the end.

This is Pen the penguin surrounded by purple clouds. This again is really good quality and in on a chunky silver chain. This is quite a large pendant which can be used as a centre piece of your outfit. I have worn it to work several times and despite the looks I love wearing it! :p

I do love this range and find it an awesome brand to help introduce some dark kawaii into your outfit/look. Are there any brands you like that you use to add a bit of edge to your look?

Loungefly - Hello Kitty and Friends!

I have been going through all of my accessories and came across a pack of earrings that I had forgotten I had! With it being Hello Kitty's 40th Anniversary year, and seeing various other characters dressed as Kitty to celebrate I thought it might be good to do a little post on them. As you can see from the title, the earrings are made by Loungefly, a brand that I have posted about before.

The range contains several Sanrio characters wearing Hello Kitty hats; the top set is Hello Kitty herself, below her you have (from left to right) Bad Badtz Maru and Chococat. Below them (from left to right) My Melody and Pochacco, and at the bottom is Keroppi! They are an awesome set that can Kawaii up any outfit!

Whilst sorting I also came across a Hello Kitty hair clip set which is similar to the Dark Kitty set I blogged about before.

The set contains two slides with Hello Kitty's head on and the words Hello Kitty with the O being decorated with a teeny tiny Kitty bow. These are very substantial slides and can hold back quite a lot of hair, including thick as I have very thick hair!

The bottom set of slides is decorated with three Kitty bows in three colours. These are super Kawaii and can go with an outfit with any of these colours. These are also substantial!! Here's a close up!

I highly rate Loungefly sets like these. They are good value for money and last a long time! They are substantial and can stay in place all day which when you have hair like me is a big plus! ^^

Blind Bags! - Lalaloopsy ^^

I have blogged before about blind bags that you can buy with surprises inside! My last post was about some My Little Pony blind bags that I found in Sainsbury's and this time I have found some Lalaloopsy blind bags! Lalaloopsy is an awesome doll range that I have also blogged about in the past and they come in all sizes.

I found these bags in a local shop and they were only £1.99.

The pack says they are Micro Figurines but I like to call them chibi as they have chibi characteristics.  There are several series of packs, I chose the 1st series as I liked the look of what you could get in the series.  The front of the pack shows you 5 chibi Lalaloopsy figures that come in the range and the pack is completely covered just like in the My Little Pony range, so that you cannot see what you are getting inside.

I have to say I am chuffed with what I got inside my packs! The chibi figure on the left is a silver doll made to look like a robot with an adorable red bow which really stands out from the silver. This is one of my favourites that I saw on the front of the pack. With the figure comes a sticker which you can peel off and use to kawaii up an item. Both the doll and the heart with the number are stickers which you can peel off and use.

The second chibi figure on the right is a cupcake styled doll with her body being the cake and her hair being the buttercream topped with sprinkles! This is super kawaii! She has a black bow which again stands out from the rest of the design. As you can see in the pic you get the matching sticker which you can use on anything you like. I'm not sure what I will use mine on yet ^^

Here is a close up of the chibi figures! Aren't they Kawaii???? I plan to use these as pendants so I can wear them on a necklace to Kawaii up my outfits! But you could use these as other types of accessories, as a charm, hair clip, ring or even just to kawaii up your TV along the top! Have you found any Kawaii Blind Bags while out shopping!? Let me know if you have, I'd love to hear about what else is available!
